Importance of Discipline

Discipline may be defined as strict obedience to certain rules and regulation. Discipline in student life is something like a capital without which no progress and prosperity can be achieved. Discipline in student life is strictly taught in schools and colleges. The students have to follow certain codes of behavior whether reading or playing. Much of a man’s success depends on his disciplined activities. A well disciplined student life is a successful life. Discipline should be maintained at all costs in the institutions. There is a need and importance of discipline in our society and in our life. In our home, in schools in the playground and everywhere in this world discipline brings order.

The students must be disciplined. The first and foremost duty of a student is to acquire knowledge. A student should remember that knowledge is power. He should read not only his prescribed books, but also the books of famous writers to follow their discipline in life. He has to fix his aim of life and make himself fit for that profession. He should keep in mind that the students of today are the leaden of the nation in future.

The importance of discipline cannot be overemphasized. In all organizations religious, political, economic, social or educational, rules and regulation must be observed. Discipline gives us an opportunity to learn experience and grow. Without discipline, there will be complete chaos and disorder. There will be no peace and progress. Life without discipline is like a ship without a rudder. It is an essential precondition for the growth of society and the spread of civilization.
