How should Information Technology be managed?

Information technology refers to the various hardware, software, networking, and data management component, necessary for the system to operate. Most modern businesses depend heavily on information systems, from employee e-mail to database management to e-commerce Web sites.

These we have seen information technology is an essential component of the business success of today. But information technology is also a vital business resource that must be properly managed. This managerial approach has three major components. These are as follows –

(1) Managing the joint development and implementation of business or IT strategies: Let by the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) and CIO (Chief Information Officer) proposal are developed by business and IT manager and professional for using IT to support the strategic business priorities of the companies. Thus the business/IT planning process align IT with strategic business goals.

As well as the responsibility for research into the strategic business uses of new information technologies.

(3) Managing the IT organization and the IT infrastructure: The CIO and IT’ manager’s share responsibility for managing the work of IT professionals who are typically organized into a variety of project teams and other organizational subunits. In addition, they are responsible for managing the IT infrastructure of hardware, software, database, telecommunication networks, and others IT resource which must be acquired, operated, monitored and maintained.
