An employer association is a consortium of manufacturers, retailers, or other employers of wage labor. As unions began to gain strength in negotiating wages and conditions through strike measures, employers began to focus on limiting wage rates and otherwise initiating emerging organized labor movements. In Sweden, Germany, and other European countries, non-manual workers are associated with unions that are similar in many respects to trade unions.
