Define Chromatin Fibre

The coiled thread-like structures suspended in the nucleoplasm is called chromatin fibre. A single coiled thread is called chromosome.

Structure: It is made of DNA, RNA, histone and non-histone protein. DNA and histone, in it, remain at a rate of 35% and 55%.



(i) It contains DNA.

(ii) Synthesizes protein.

(iii) Helps in cell division.

(iv) It’s a container and carrier of heredity.
