Gravitation and Gravity

Gravitation

The force of attraction between any two bodies of the universe is called gravitation. The attraction between the sun and the earth is an example of gravitation. The gravitation depends on the bodies and the distance between them but not on other characteristic properties of the body and the medium.

Gravity

The force of attraction between the earth and other bodies on the earth and its surroundings are known as gravity. The gravity is thus, in the case of gravitation. Due to gravity, the bodies fall to the ground (earth) when released-from any distance above the earth’s surface.

The motion of the body falling under gravity is an example of a motion with uniform acceleration.
