The train of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is called a Toy Train because of its slow speed and colorful wagons. Darjeeling is in the state of West Bengal of India. The toy train is different from normal train on the basis of is colorful wagons and slow speed. It was opened in 1881.  The Toy Tram is slow as a goes on mountain. It is meant that the train will remain operational and will retain most of as original beauty.

The 19th century saw significant development in the railway service. Darjeeling Himalayan Railway was constructed in the mountains. The times of this railway have colorful wagons and run slowly like toys. That is why this train is popularly known as toy tram. The development of railways in the 19th century brought about a profound social and economic development in many parts of the world. The Darjeeling Railway was declared as a World Heritage Site in November. 2000. Because of man’s outstanding achievement of railway transportation this railway was declared as a World Heritage Site in 2000.
