Data Resource Management: Data resource management is a managerial activity that applies information system technologies like database management and other management tools to the task of managing an organization’s data resources to meet the information needs of a business user. It involves the management of files and computer data for businesses and companies.

Simply it is a managerial activity that applies information systems technologies to the task of managing an organization’s data resources to meet the information needs of their business stakeholders. Today’s business enterprises cannot survive or succeed without quality data about their internal operations and external environment. It is the development of data models in order to allow different systems to share data. It is also concerned with both data quality and compatibility between data models. It has three components. These are –

  • Database administration;
  • Data administration;
  • Data planning.
