What do you mean by Fibre?

Fibre: All most all the fibres are sclerenchymatous cells. Sclerenchymatous cells may be present individually or collectively in the different organs of plants and act as the frame work of plant organs and also give mechanical support of different plant organs.

Types of fibres: On the basis of the variations of uses, plants fibres are five types.

  • Textile fibre: Cotton, Jute
  • Filling fibre: Silk, Cotton
  • Plating fibre: Coir
  • Brush fibre: Trunk of Coconut
  • Paper manufacturing fibre: palm.
