Differences between Prokaryotic Cell and Eukaryotic Cell

Differences between the Prokaryotic cell and Eukaryotic cell:

Prokaryotic Cell

  1. Size and structure: Very minute and simple
  2. Nucleus: Only DNA is present nuclear membrane nucleolus are absent
  3. Organelles: the Only ribosome is present in the cytoplasm and all other organelles are absent.
  4. Photo-synthesis: For photosynthesis, well-organized plastid is absent.
  5. Cell division: Cell division occurs by fission or binary fission method. Spindle apparatus is not formed.
  6. Example: Bacteria, cells of blue-green algae

Eukaryotic Cell

  1. Size and structure: Comparatively large and complex
  2. Nucleus: Comparatively distinct, well developed and nuclear membrane and nucleolus are present
  3. Organelles: All living organelles are present.
  4. Photosynthesis: Photosynthesis occurs with the help of complex organelle, called plastid.
  5. Cell division: Body cell undergoes mitotic division and spindle apparatus is formed
  6. Example: All higher types of plants and animals.
