Describe on Nucleic Acid in Biology

Nucleic acid: Nucleic acid is a very important biochemical substance for every organism.

Occurance: Chromosome, plastid, nucleolus, mitochondria, ribosome and cytoplasm.

Types: Nucleic acid is of two types.

  1. Ribonucleic acid (RNA)
  2. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)

Main components of nucleic acid: The main components of nucleic acid are as follows:

i. Pentose sugar: Ribose or Deoxyribose

ii. Inorganic phosphate and

iii. Nitrogen base- Adanine, Guanine, Cs tos:nc, I h% none and I irucil

Purine base: Adenine and guanine are known as purine base. Punne bases have double ring structure.

Pyrimidine base: Cytosine, Thymine and uracil are called pyrimidine bases. Pyrimidine bases have single ring structure.
